Chives Common Organic Allium Schoenoprasum is a perennial herb plant native to Europe. Organic Chives seeds can be sown directly outdoors in spring after last frost, or the seeds can be started indoors and the seedlings can be transplanted outdoors in four weeks after germination. The established Allium Schoenoprasum produces small lavender flowers and hollow stems that are edible, smelling and tasting mildly of onion. Chives plant is hardy and easy to transplant, and its leaves are very cold hardy.

Organic Chives Common is the standard variety to grow in the garden, and this herb can be used fresh, dried or frozen. Common Chives is used in soups, scrambled eggs, soft cheeses, mashed potatoes and salads.
