Blazing Star Liatris Spicata is a herbaceous perennial native to the United States. Another common name of this plant is Gayfeather, and Blazing Star is easy to grow from flower seeds. Liatris Spicata produces the stiff, cylindrical, flower spikes that are heavily concentrated with deep-rose, purple flowers. When Gayfeather starts to bloom, the flowers open from the terminal end of the spike and slowly descend toward the base. The showy Blazing Star flowers attract myriads of to bees, butterflies and even hummingbirds 

Blazing Star grows upright form and takes up minimal space, so this flower is suitable for even the smallest garden. The vertical nature of the beautiful spikes of purple flowers makes Gayfeather is equally great for growing in native plant gardens, cottage gardens, prairie meadows and large, established perennial borders, where its thin, tall, airy floral wands create a mesmerizing "pop-up" effect.
