Cigar Plant Scarlet Cuphea Ignea Coan is a perennial shrub native to Central and South America. Cigar Plant Scarlet can be grown from seeds, and other most known common names of this plant are Mexican Cigar Flower, Firecracker Plant, and Cigarette Plant. Cuphea Ignea Coan is a compact bushy plant that produces mounds of highly attractive, shiny-green foliage which is covered with long, tube-shaped, red flowers with white ends that look like ash-tipped cigars. The tubular flowers and bright red color of blooming Cigar Flower are a hummingbird magnet and they attract butterflies and bees too. 

Cigar Plant Scarlet is a superb container plant and can be grown as a border plant or ground cover. Cuphea Ignea Coan seeds have to be just pressed slightly into soil surface, and the Cigar Plant is a fast grower that is very adaptable to various soil conditions. This robust perennial likes to grow in full sun tolerating partial shade and preferring moist, well drained soil. Cigar Plant is also commonly grown indoors as a houseplant.
