Hare's Ear Bupleurum Rotundifolium Griffithii is a herbaceous hardy annual plant that belongs to the carrot family. Hare's Ear seeds can be started indoors in cold frame or directly outdoors and the variety Griffithii features foliage with green, branched stems and blue-green, rounded leaves producing terminal clusters of small greenish-yellow flowers surrounded by grey-green bracts with sharply pointed leaves. The blooming Bupleurum is a great companion plant for showier flowers in a garden.
Hare's Ear is a popular annual flower to grow in cutting gardens, flower beds, borders, and Bupleurum is also an excellent foliage plant. Bupleurum Rotundifolium Griffithii seeds have to be covered with soil but not deeper than 1/8 of inch, and the established Hare's Ear plant prefers a full sun and average well drained soil tolerating partial shade. The uniquely shaped Bupleurum is a wonderful cut flower that makes outstanding addition to any flower arrangement where it contrasts well with other flowers.
