Joe Pye Weed Spotted Eupatorium Maculatum is a large clumping perennial and robust wildflower native to North America. Joe Pye Weed Spotted seeds have to be planted not deeper than 1/8 inch, and bushy growing Eupatorium Maculatum has very attractive foliage with lovely looking mid-green leaves and strong and sturdy, almost entirely purple stems. Spotted Joe Pye Weed blooms July through October with large crowns of numerous pinkish-purple, nectar-rich small flowers which are so rich in pollen and nectar that they are like a magnet for butterflies, bees and other pollinators. Many butterflies including Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, Great Spangled Fritillary, Pearl Crescent, Monarch, and the Tawny-edged Skipperare are attracted to Eupatorium Maculatum.

Joe Pye Weed Spotted is a very versatile plant that is considered to be an herb, wildflower, butterfly plant, or ornamental/accent plant for the flower bed, so Eupatorium can be found growing in beds and borders, prairie and naturalistic gardens, cottage and informal gardens, mass planted in meadows, bee and butterfly gardens, and since natural habitat of Eupatorium Maculatum is flood plains, swamps, bogs, stream banks, and wet meadows, Joe Pye Weed is often planted along a stream or pond side. Easily established from Eupatorium Maculatum seeds this perennial flower thrives in reasonably fertile and not too dry soils self sowing itself liberally if conditions allow.
