Moonflower Ipomoea Alba is a tender tropical perennial native to tropical America. Moonflower seeds can be sown directly outdoors in spring of fall in mild climates. Also commonly called Moon Vine and Giant White Moonflower, Ipomoea Alba is a vigorous twining vine that blooms with fabulous, fragrant, extra large, 5-6 inches across, saucer-shaped, alabaster white flowers. Moonflower is also known as the evening glory as its buds open in late afternoon and last only until morning's light transforms them into a limp shriveled mass.

Moonflower is a very fast growing perennial in hot weather, but because of its fast growth habit, it is also a popular annual vine in colder areas. Moonflower looks terrific covering fences, trellis, arbors, decks along with other structures, and making up for the brief life spans of individual flowers by producing quantities of the big blossoms throughout the summer and fall. Ipomoea Alba seeds have to be nicked and soaked in warm water for the best germination, and blooming Moonflower has a delightful fragrance to complement its beauty and perfume warm summer nights.
