Moss Rose Yellow Portulaca Grandiflora is a hardy, flowering annual plant native to hot, dry plains of Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. The direct sowing in spring is most common, but if Moss Rose Yellow seeds are planted in winter 6-8 weeks before last frost, the plant will establish itself and start to bloom earlier. The compact growing Portulaca Grandiflora forms an attractive, dense mat of needle-like foliage and produces lovely, semi-double or double, roses-like, yellow flowers that appear all summer and fall attracting bees and butterflies to a garden.

Moss Rose Yellow spreads as wide as 2 feet that makes this succulent flower a perfect compact ground cover. Moss Rose is a fabulous showy flower to grow in rock gardens, along walkways, hanging baskets, and the low water requirement of the Moss Rose makes this flower a natural choice for the container garden. Portulaca is also vigorous enough to grow in the pockets of a stacked stone walls. Portulaca Grandiflora seeds germinate just in 7-14 days, and the generously self-seeding Moss Rose Yellow flower requires very low maintenance and just occasional watering for better flowering. Once established plant tolerates heat, and drought flourishing in poor soils.
