New Zealand Burr Acaena Inermis Purpurea is an evergreen perennial plant native to New Zealand. New Zealand Burr seeds do not require any pre-treatment, and also commonly called Purple Sheep's Burr, Purple Goose-Leaf, and Spineless Pirri-Pirri, Acaena Inermis Purpurea is a low growing, spreading, mat-forming ground cover plant with purple-colored, fern-like foliage, and its deep-purple, ferny, feathery leaves intensify in color in a sunny, open position. Purple Sheep's Burr blooms with small, thornless, burr-shaped, deep-purple almost brown flowers in summer.

New Zealand Burr is one of the most beautiful ground covers, and other garden uses of Purple Goose-Leaf include rock and alpine gardens, planting in the crevices of paving stones or walls, edging and mass plantings. Acaena Inermis Purpurea seeds have to be kept moist until germination, and established Spineless Pirri-Pirri makes a tough, low maintenance plant that thrives in average and poor soil with good drainage tolerating drought.
