Oriental Poppy Mix Papaver Orientale is a hardy herbaceous perennial native to the Caucasus, northeastern Turkey, and northern Iran. Oriental Poppy Mix seeds can be started indoors or outdoors, and Papaver Orientale is the most striking of the perennial poppies. Oriental Poppy grows up to 3 feet tall forming dense mounds of finely cut, downy foliage that provides a handsome setting for the flowers while adding greatly to the texture of bed or border. Oriental Poppy Mix produces the delicate, papery, 6 inches across, red, pink, orange, white, and bi-colored flowers that appear in spring in summer, attracting bees and butterflies.

Oriental Poppy looks wonderful when it is planted in small groups in borders or cottage and cutting gardens. Papaver Orientale seeds germinate quickly, and the established Oriental Poppy is winter hardy virtually anywhere in the continental United States, and the plant is also outstandingly tolerant of summer drought, since it retreats underground into dormancy soon after flowering. Oriental Poppy requires very little care, and it will grow in any open, sunshiny position in a good, deep loamy soil.
