Sedum Mountain Stonecrop Sedum Montanum is a succulent, evergreen perennial subshrub native to Alpine regions of Croatia, Italy, France, and Switzerland. Sedum Mountain Stonecrop seeds can be started indoors, in a greenhouse or directly outdoors. Also known under a scientific name of Petrosedum Montanum this Sedum has lovely year-round dark-green foliage with needle-shaped leaves which give the appearance of a tiny conifer tree, and the flat-topped clusters of yellow-golden flowers appear on tall erect stalks in midsummer attracting bees and other pollinators.

Sedum Mountain Stonecrop is an excellent groundcover, rock garden flower, and green roof specimen. Sedum Montanum seeds have to be just pressed slightly into the soil and not covered for best germination. The best growing conditions for Mountain Sedum are full sun and well-drained soil, so good drainage is crucial; however, some partial shade is tolerated. This Sedum is reliably hardy and tolerates summer heat perfectly resisting drought.
