Sedum White Stonecrop Sedum Album is a herbaceous perennial plant native to Europe, western Asia, and northern Africa. Sedum White Stonecrop seeds can be started indoors or directly outdoors, and also commonly called Hardy Baby Tears, this evergreen perennial is a creeping, mat-forming, evergreen sedum stonecrop that typically grows 4" tall and spreads to 12-18" wide. This sedum features very dense foliage with small, succulent, linear-oblong, cylindrical to flattened, green leaves that turn reddish brown for fall and winter. The clusters of tiny, star-like, white sedum flowers start to appear in mid-summer on a top of foliage mat and float over deeply hued succulent leaves. White Sedum flower attract butterflies and bees in summer and fall.
Sedum White Stonecrop is commonly planted in groups or massed as a ground cover, and other garden uses include containers, rock gardens, planting between stepping stones, along ledges or stone walls or in border fronts, and green roofs. Sedum Album seeds needs to be just slightly pressed into the soil and not covered. Once established, White Stonecrop grows best in full sun tolerating very light shade, drought, and dry soil.
