Sedum Widow's Cross Stonecrop Sedum Pulchellum is a succulent, evergreen, herbaceous perennial plant native to the South-Central and Southeastern United States. Sedum Widow's Cross seeds can be started indoors, in a greenhouse or directly outdoors, and also commonly called Sedum Seastar Stonecrop, this Sedum grows as a low to the ground, mat-forming groundcover featuring attractive foliage with alternate, smooth, stem-clasping, cylindrical, pale green to lime green leaves which are densely arranged along the branching stems. Widow's Cross Stonecrop blooms with a horizontally branched clusters of tiny vivid pink to salmon, four-petaled flowers that perch on horizontal branches at the top of the plant and distinct dustings of minuscule black and red dots on their petals complete the unique look of this plant. It blooms in summer attracting various pollinators including bees and butterflies
Sedum Widow's Cross Stonecrop is a fantastic flowering groundcover and other garden uses include green roofs, pots, containers, rock gardens, rock walls, xeriscaping since it requires minimal irrigation. Sedum Pulchellum seeds are small so they must be surface sowed for successful germination, and once established Seastar Stonecrop is easily grown in shallow, rocky, limestone to sandstone, dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils of moderate to low fertility in full sun, but it shows good tolerance for light shade and moist soils with good drainage. This Sedum freely self-seeds itself.
