Chamomile German Matricaria Recutita is a herbaceous annual herb plant native to to Europe, North Africa, and some parts of Asia. Chamomile German seeds have to be just slightly pressed into the soil and not covered, because they require light to germinate. Also commonly called Sweet False Chamomile, Wild Chamomile, or Scented Mayweed and botanically Matricaria Chamomilla this annual herb grows up to 24 inches tall and 15 inches wide featuring thin branches of finely divided, 3 inches long, aromatic, green leaves and blooming in summer and fall with masses of showy, daisy-like, white flowers with bright-yellow domed center disk of tubular yellow florets. The German Chamomile attract various pollinators including bees.

Chamomile German is a fast growing annual and is a must-have herb for any herb garden. Other garden uses include plantings in the front of the border, flower beds, containers and patios. Easily grown from Matricaria Recutita seeds, German Chamomile is considered to be a herb, and it is commonly used as a medicinal plant for its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-allergenic, and sedative properties. Chamomile tea is widely used as a mild sedative herbal drink for various applications including calming nerves, relaxing tense muscles, alleviating stress, dispelling insomnia and treating indigestion. In addition, Wild Chamomile flowers may be used fresh or dried for culinary or cosmetic purposes. The established Chamomile plants are very drought tolerant.
