Foamflower Tiarella Wherryi is a compact herbaceous perennial and a native wildflower that is a parent of various new hybrids. Foamflower seeds have to be just slightly pressed into the soil and not covered, because the seeds need light to germinate. Also called Wherry's Foamflower, Foam Flower, Coolwort, Laceflower, Sugar-Scoop, and False Miterwort, this plant forms lush clumps of heart-shaped, lobbed green leaves with reddish or purplish veins and blooms with terminal spikes of airy white to pinkish flowers that appear in spring in early summer. The attractive foliage turns bronze in colder months and remains evergreen in mild winter regions. The flowers are sweetly fragrant from up close.

Foamflower is a popular choice for woodland plantings, as a groundcover and also as a container, rock garden, edging, and border plant. Tiarella Wherryi seeds germinate in 3-4 weeks, and the established Wherry's Foamflower is an easy care flower that grows best in partial or full shade preferring rich, moist, sandy or clay soil.
