Gazania Garden Leader Red Striped Gazania Rigens is a tender, perennial plant native to South Africa. Easily started from Gazania Garden Leader Red Striped seeds and mostly known as Treasure Flower, Gazania Rigens is widely grown as a highly ornamental annual, but in warmer climates the plant performs as perennial. Gazania Garden Red Striped is a compact, trailing, mat-like, flowering ground cover with gray, fuzzy leaves and large, 4 inch, yellow with a red stripe on each petal flowers on a top of protruding, sturdy, 12 inches tall flower stems. Treasure flower blooms all season long attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

Gazania Garden Leader Red Striped makes a superb, flowering ground cover, and because of its trailing habit, Treasure Flower looks absolutely stunning growing in hanging baskets, containers, rock gardens, along driveways and sidewalks, or as bedding and edging plant. Gazania Rigens seeds needs light to germinate, so they have to be just pressed slightly into the soil but not covered. Treasure Flower Red Striped tolerates heat and drought thriving in full sun and light, well drained soil. Gazania re-seeds itself if conditions allow.
