Ice Plant Mix Dorotheanthus Bellidiformis is a tender, succulent perennial flowering plant native to desert areas of South Africa. If grown as an annual, it is best to start Ice Plant Mix seeds indoors 10-12 weeks before last frost and transplant the seedling outdoors after last frost. Another common name of Dorotheanthus Bellidiformis is Livingstone Daisy, and this plant is a tender perennial in USDA zones 9-11, but Ice Plant is widely grown as an annual in all regions of North America. Compact growing and spreading low to the ground succulent, dark-green foliage forms a dense mat, and Ice Plant starts to bloom profusely in late spring or early summer producing masses of small, glossy, daisy-like flowers in white, pink, yellow, orange, apricot, reddish-purple and magenta colors.

Ice Plant Mix is often grown as a ground cover, and other garden uses of this highly popular flower include mass plantings, containers, border fronts, alpine and rock gardens, and sunny slops. Dorotheanthus Bellidiformis seeds germinate quickly, and the fast growing, drought tolerant Livingstone Daisy thrives in average to poor, sandy, gravelly, dry to medium soil requiring very good drainage for the best performance.
