Lily of the Nile Agapanthus Headbourne Hybrids is a hardy perennial. Lily of the Nile seeds can be started indoors or directly outdoors, and also called African Blue Lilly, this highly attractive flower is a rare and very precious source of blue color for the summer garden. Lily of the Nile features dark-green foliage with strap shaped leaves and tall, sturdy, bloom-happy flowering stems that shoot up 3 feet in the air, leaving the lush foliage far beneath, and penning large 3-4 inches globes of gorgeous, violet-blue, lavender florets. African Blue Lilly blooms from summer to fall attracting butterflies and bees.

Lily of the Nile looks wonderful in large containers, borders, mass planting, cutting gardens, and this lily plant makes an excellent year-round houseplant with the elegant foliage as beautiful as its blooms. Growing the Agapanthus Headbourne Hybrids seeds is easy, but it requires some patience, and if started from seeds, Lily of the Nile will bloom after two or three years and then for many, many years afterwards.
