Periwinkle Dwarf Little Bright Eyes Catharanthus Roseus is an evergreen, perennial flowering shrub native to Madagascar but grown around the world as the annual ornamental and medicinal plant. Periwinkle Dwarf Little Bright Eyes seeds need darkness to germinate, so these ground cover seeds have to be covered with soil, and it is recommended to cover planting trays or containers with a black plastic sheet or a newspaper. Also commonly called Vinca Rosea, Madagascar Periwinkle, Rosy Periwinkle, Teresita Vinca, Cape Periwinkle, Rose Periwinkle, and Old-Maid, Catharanthus Roseus plants can be moved outdoors once the temperature remains consistently above 65 F degrees. The compact growing Periwinkle Little Bright Eyes plant features highly attractive foliage with shiny dark-green leaves and delicate looking, 5-petals white flowers with a bright carmine center, and the blooming Catharanthus Roseus attracts butterflies.

Periwinkle Dwarf Little Bright Eyes is often planted as a general ground cover, and other garden uses include mass planting, container planting, hanging baskets, window boxes, edging the front of the flower bed. Once the Catharanthus Roseus seeds germinate, the emerged seedling needs bright light, and when the plants are 2-3 inches tall, they can be transplanted into individual pots. The established Periwinkle is drought and heat tolerant, so the plant can survive on the available rainfall.
